Touted on the online circus as the ‘designers to watch’ this season, Teatum Jones didn’t disappoint. Debuting on the official London fashion week schedule, their third collection was as elegant as their first. Taking their inspiration from the American Dream, 1950s suburbia and the secret, frantic desire to escape the norm, Catherine Teatum and Rob Jones fused refined womenswear with subtle masculine touches. Continuing to create narratives, led by strong female characters, the duo explored the desire to escape that artificial dream world. Braille-like fabrics in flesh tones of blush pinks and lilac taupe with chalky colourings inspired by the morning suburban sunshine featured on a hybrid of tailored dresses and skirts that exploited the symbolism of the patriachal suit jacket and the fluid silk dresses. Other key pieces included butter soft leathers and signature shirt dresses. If Kate Winslet could have dressed herself in Revolutionary Road, this collection would fill the wardrobe! The Teatum Jones woman is aspirational and effortlessly chic – do believe the hype.
