Richard Nicoll’s relaxing, summer-soaked 60s soundtrack-Roy Orbison’s wonderful In Dreams, and The Mamas & The Papas crooning “each night before you go to bed my baby”-set the tone for a collection of nighttime adventures: layers of sheer négligée looks, sculpted Madonna-esque bustiers, and big black granny pants under lingerie-like dresses. Colours were light blues and aquas and all sorts of pink (powerpuff glitter and candyfloss pink including). See-through plastic appeared in metallic heels, and PVC was used everywhere, to especially amazing effect in a tailored blue tee. But it wasn’t all about a futuristic, Fifth Element feel – the past was ever present in floral brocades and prints, in bands of ruffles, in slimmed-down farthingale hoops and flowing floor-length skirts. And, in a nod to collections past, there was even a solitary Linder print, peering out from under a sheer blouse… night night!
