Peter Pilottto. London, 19/09/11

Under the sea, under the sea, darling it’s better down where it’s wetter take it from PP.

It’s rare that anyone gets excessively excited at 9am of a Monday morning, but Peter Pilotto was a welcome wake up call. Of course digital prints were order of the day, in the theme of a life aquatic, executed through X-men style second skin jumpsuits, sexy jewelled mermaid tails and zipped up waistcoats not dissimilar to lifejackets. The laser cut prints in reds, blues and greens on pencil skirts, maxi skirts and slim cut trousers took the theme in a different direction, baring palm trees and big bright flowers. And then we looked down at the shoes, and stayed down. Collaborating with Nicholas Kirkwood, perspex tube heels in greens and blues stomped the catwalk drawing envy with every step. With SS12, Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos made waves we won’t forget in a hurry.
