The finest of nights start with Jeanette’s nod of approval and with East London’s divinest doorman poised at the entry to the Portico Rooms in full New Power regalia we knew we were in for a treat. Ushered into the darkened, smoke-filled space Thom Murphy’s sartorial manifestation of ‘Birth, Death and Marriage’ greeted us. A triptych of freeze frames, the ever eclectic mix of New Power models and muses created quite the Frocky Horror Show. A ghetto fabulous Shaun Ross lay static and sun-shaded in a New Power coffin (place your orders now) and broody bridesmaids wore white puffball skirts and roller-skates (obvz). Working exclusively with i-D on an extra-special music program the N.P.S SS12 extravaganza was set to the perfect soundtrack.
