A show that has divided fashion commentators. Nicola Formichetti and his womenswear designer Sebastien Peigné chose a ladylike colour scheme of camel and cream for the SS12 collection applied to a long, tall silhouette. Strips of material on tight fitting jackets cut across body parts to accentuate shoulder blades or the midriff which is a key trend across the board for SS12. Sparkly jeggings, perhaps a continuation from the same design which appeared on the mens SS12 runway show. Dresses were sculpted and skirts layered and tucked to reveal very long legs. Neoprene and calfskin were used to give the feeling of hybrid contrasts between structure and nature. Of course, Lady Gaga was present by way of a short film shot by Inez & Vinoodh where it looked like diamond implants had been added to her front teeth. The style of the video was very ethereal but the message was tough: ‘don’t fuck with the Mugler woman’ and to a soundtrack of Black Jesus remixed by DJ White Shadow.
