Marios Schwab SS12 was a work of art. Inspired by 50s movies, femme fatale after femme fatale sauntered down the catwalk in panelled, meshed and crosshatch netted ‘movie’ dresses, pencil skirts, sheer shirts and high waisted trousers. From the eyeliner (courtesy Val Garland) to the heroine hair, the collection was so sexy it hurt. Exaggerated seamlines pushed the inside-out body consciousness (not bodycon) that Marios is famous for. Saving the best ’till last, the pièce de résistance was that dress (which could be any dress in this collection), a metallic bodice with a full length, long-sleeved, high-necked totally sheer dress on top, like skin over the soul. It was Mrs Robinson meets every Bond girl – the villains included – meets some fierce military temptress. Can you tell we were impressed?
