NY Fashion Week got off to a flying start with Felipe Oliveira Baptista’s first collection for Lacoste. Presenting modern luxe sportwear with an ample amount of sex and generous helping of ‘Parisian Chic’. The eponymous polo shirt was collaged and elongated into tight-fitting dresses, knits came with revealing cut-outs and floor length jersey dresses slashed to the thigh. Anoraks came in dazzling white leather and parkas held their shape proudly creating strong silhouettes. This season Baptista concentrated on ‘deconstruction’, and it showed, producing a pared down, modern and precise collection with razor-sharp lines and well-considered details.
