James Long. London, 21/09/11

After showing a tribe of glamazon girls earlier in the week at Fashion East, James Long returned to his menswear roots today at the BFC space in Somerset House. His collection started with a python print and ended with a patchwork metal jacket, and the atmosphere felt like Apocalypse Now in the Jungle Book (plus a fashion flock of bedraggled woolly sheep). James dressed his boys as dark lurex snakes in silver, copper and bronze, while others wore tatty golden fleeces and knitted bodycon bum shorts. There were also bamboo-leaf sweaters rolled up and tucked into tight trousers, and – of course – the ubiquitous spring/summer platform sandal. Now, why was the elephant lost? Because the jungle is massive!
