For spring/summer 12 Giorgio Armani set up the perfect location for a romantic, moonlit rendezvous. Lights flickered across the runway mimicking the moon’s reflection on water, while waves lapped peacefully from the speakers. Delicate silk dresses, trouser suits and gowns shimmered in iridescent mother of pearl. Kimono style silk jackets were cut on the bias to create a laid-back fluidity, while slinky satin gowns in aqua, green and blue created the illusion of water cascading sensually down the body. Elsewhere indigo striped blazers and dresses came exaggerated around the hips to create conch shell shaped curves. Coco Rocha closed the show in a show-stopping evening gown. Floor-length, split to the thigh and lovingly embroidered in thousands of sparkling crystals you were tricked into thinking she had just emerged from the ocean and was covered in water droplets. Serene, romantic, elegant and refined, this refreshing collection showed Mr Armani at his best.
