Mr Armani opened his SS12 Emporio collection with a monochromatic moment. An ode to all things black, white and beautiful; traditional boaters; elongated suit jackets with curved lapels and contrasting piping, paper snowflake-esque fine leather twinsets, and some pretty impressive hoop skirts all made appearances in various takes on the B&W theme. With Giorgio focussing the eye on form and line, in each case models wore identikit peroxide blonde wigs with deep, blackened eyes. Silk trousers, tops and dresses were seen in washed out-pastel shades, accompanied by transparent plastic handbags each containing smaller leather accessories in peppermint green and the omni-present black and white. Floral fascinators and brocades in high gloss finishes made the perfect icing on the monochrome bonanza. Bravissimo!
