Dance then, wherever you may be

‘Sketches For Regency Living’ is the four-minute performance-based film originally devised by the artist Pablo Bronstein and directed by the talented Laurence Ellis.

The film demonstrates how architecture and sculpture intervene in personal identity and inform our movements and social mores. Wearing an appropriately printed costume designed by Mary Katrantzou, the dancer performs a short ballet piece shot in a single take on 200ft of 16mm negative film stock. The minimal camera movements follow the dancer as a viewer and the film is completely unedited, producing a simple yet visually stunning record.
