If you wanna be in my gang, dress like this.
Basing the collection around the idea of that bitchy group of girls at school, Christopher Kane sent his mean girls out in dresses that looked like pressed foil and perfect pointed-collar shirts. Flowers outlined in shiny paper stuff were appliquéd on heavy-duty sheer coats and shirts tucked into pleated skirts said ‘I’m the Queen Bee, if you want to get ahead you have to follow me.’ The flowers took on an animated feel, like when cartoon birds land on Mary Poppins’ hand – they seemed to land on garments and move around excitedly. Contrasting prints, tennis pullovers, envelope dresses with floral embroidered slash necks; Christopher Kane flexed his hugely diverse talents and invited us in to his vast imagination. Taking one idea, but running it around corners and exploring whims and fancy, he pulled it into a very ‘together’ collection that was, quite simply, a masterpiece.
