New York’s newest star continues to go from strength to strength. With his label only three years old, it’s easy to forget his relative new-boy status when he shows successive collections with such finesse and confidence. This season he focused on sportswear and print, both early emerging trends from New York fashion week. The print was taken from an old Hawaiian shirt and reworked to the chicest of effects. Used as panels, incorporated into white dresses, linings of jackets and a full-on sleevless trouser suit. To counter his psychedelic tropical print, there were plenty of looks in urban monochrome from leather minidresses, padded biker jackets and floaty panelled dresses. Altuzarra upped the sports quota with chic nylon windbreakers, black backpack straps added to white form-fitting dresses, racing stripes down trouser legs and neoprene baseball jerseys. An exciting and accomplished collection from one New York’s emerging talents.
