Vrooom vroom. Wang’s girls this summer are all revved up with a motocross/BMX inspired collection. A front row including Courtney Love and Linda Evangelista took their places to see a show bursting with ideas and youthful exuberence. From the couture-like florals in technical guise, the highly covetable zip-up mesh bombers, sexy BMX-style instarsia knits with eye-catching graphics to the sheer jerseys with fluoro tribal arrow shapes. Each season Wang manages to extrapolate his key ideas with clever ingenuity, skillfully re-inforcing them throughout each collection. This season, accessories came in the form of tough-looking leather bandanas, large leather kit bags slung across the body and occassionaly a custom-made motorcycle helmet (with floraal insignia). Continuing from his resort collection, this was a show rooted in urban streetstyle with a contemporary sportswear-edge. Wang continues to have his finger firmly on the pulse.
