Recently back from Paris where he debuted his menswear line, the prince of print talks i-D online through his latest projects.
Based in London, Saunders splits his time between here and New York, ensuring he caters to his customers as well as the press. After graduating from Central Saint Martins with a masters in Printed Textiles, the Scotsman quickly became famous for his work with prints, his traditional silk-screening techniques and unabashed use of colour. Eleven years on and Saunders works around the clock, designing twelve collections a year!
Garnering a global following and designing clothes that grab attention but remain wearable, Saunders proves he’s mastered the art of running a successful business. Busily preparing for his new collection, the designer likes to relax with the occasional Jack Daniels in East London’s Spurstow pub or visit good bookshops in the West End.
i-D online popped in to Saunders’ bright and airy Angel-based studio for a chat about his love of books, London, Glasgow and his new menswear designs.
