Giles EEK (Summer 2010)
This is the photo that started it all… I was going to my step brother’s wedding last summer and – inspired by a picture of Giles’ ‘Eek’ pendants in pastel colours – I did my nails in a similar style. I tweeted it and the next thing I knew it had been viewed by like 2000 people! I was getting messages from Japan and everything. When it came to Giles’ next show he asked me to do the same look on all the models. It was over 50 models or something but we got multi-coloured Eeks on all of them, even Veruschka. The girls loved it and people still send me their versions of it now.
(Oh FYI if I had known so many people were going to look at this picture I definitely would have put more oil on my fingers!)

The New French Nails at Louis Vuitton AW10 show, Paris (March 2010)
When Marc Jacobs asked for a french manicure to go with the bouncy ponytail and feminine make-up, I gave it a new twist by taking the white tip down the sides of the nail and making it modern. This was the season after the mannequin manicure look was created so I wanted it to be as inspirational, and it had to work on all the models. We made up all the French tips in advance and I caught Natasha Poly backstage with hers.

Red ‘Tom Ford’ nails at the Ungaro AW11 show Paris (March 2011).
Alana Zimmer and Hanne Gabbe in the line-up backstage. We had made up hundreds of fake nails for this season and all the girls were lined up with their talons. I created a ‘Louboutin red’ by colour-matching to one of my shoes. I don’t care what anyone says, I love these nails!

Alessandra Ambrosio with Marimeko daisy nails for Japanese Vogue (June 2010)
By this time nail art in fashion was starting to take-off and I was asked to do these by Katie Grand for a Japanese Vogue story called ‘No Crime To Be Rich’ photographed by Sølve Sundsbø. Sølve is one of my favourite photographers and I am lucky to work with him a lot. Alessandra is also a babe and so sweet she always poses for pictures for me.

Nail Extensions on Erykah Badu from Tom Ford Campaign (2008)
I started working with Tom Ford on his guest editor edition of GQ Style on a three day story of naked men and next thing he had booked me for the perfume commercial with Erykah Badu. I had been to see her perform back in the 90s and she was a diamond in the flesh. When I saw this picture by Mert & Marcus I was like “Whoa I don’t think I’m ever gonna get a better picture of nails taken again. I was ecstatic!”
