The claws are out in the second instalment of Miu Miu’s Women’s Tales film series. The short, directed by acclaimed Argentinean filmmaker Lucrecia Martel, showcases the A/W 11 collection on faceless, flawless femme fatales.
Set on a luxury ship anchored in an ocean far, far away, Martel presents a contemporary film noir piece; a gripping “personal reflection on the transformative power of femininity at the heart of the Miu Miu obsession”. Titled MUTA (meaning both ‘mute’ and ‘transformation’) the film features the brand’s Noir sunglasses collection in key focus whilst displaying star pieces from A/W. The surreal narrative opens at the break of dawn with the buzz of electrics awakening the elegant crew. As they emerge from portals on the ship, their faces are obscured, revealing details of 40s style silhouettes that recall old Hollywood glamour. MUTA is dark and experimental, and perhaps signifies the next step in fashion film, bridging the gap between a film about a collection, and a deeper, narrative. See for yourself…
The next instalment of Women’s Tales will be announced shortly.
