Jean Paul Gaultier went sporty, casual and wearable this season. The setting of the show was a two-storied, metal structure on which models could be seen changing. Once ready they walked down onto the floor where buyers tables were set up. Introduced by a simple voice-over (Gaultier narrating in a continuation from the women’s haute couture where Catherine Deneuve did the same), each model stopped at the buyer’s tables to show the clothes which they were free to reach out and touch. Buyers conversed freely with representatives from the house of Gaultier. Tartan and hibiscus prints appeared but it was the sportswear and trenches that stood out. One trench was light beige but with a navy trim. One suit was professional but with a powerful blue inside lining. Everything seemed to be tagged with a tiny, metal French street sign plaque that read Rue Saint-Martin which is the address of Gaultier’s HQ. A collectable detail for fans of his clothing.
