i-N Conversation: Puzzle Muteson

Puzzle Muteson is the self-taught Icelandic talent who feels uncomfortable in front of crowds but safe behind his guitar.

With delicate verse, poignant string arrangements and soft piano solos, the music of Puzzle Muteson explores one single man’s fears and feelings in an honest and affecting manner. Comparable to soulful folk forefathers Ray Lamontagne and Damien Rice, Puzzle’s lyrics stem from a broken heart. Tranquil, hypnotic and melancholic, his sound leads the listener in closer, allowing an intimacy that feels safe and sweet.

Signed to D.I.Y. record label Bedroom Community, Puzzle’s unassuming melodies have been nurtured and guided, with his quiet confidence building and developing. Working closely with Valgeir Sigurðsson and Nico Muhly, he is now attracting attention and his debut album, En Garde, has been downloading like wildfire. i-D Online caught up with Puzzle for a chat and a session at Bedroom Community HQ.
