East London’s Drawing Room gallery is holding a silent auction of specially commissioned works on A4 pieces of paper by two hundred established and emerging artists but hush, it’s silent, don’t tell anyone!
Various members of the arts and media industry – Mike Skinner, Nick Hornby and Jon Snow included – have selected works going under the hammer (there’s no actual hammer in a silent auction, that was a metaphor). Artists such as Turner prize winner Mark Wallinger, Michael Landy and David Austen have all contributed works, placed side by side student’s work. Our pick of the lot is British artist David Haines’ piece entitled “Poison Pareidolia” – a macabre, poetic scene.
i-D Online visited the Drawing Room to talk with Co-Director Mary Doyle about a few of the works up for auction…
The auction closes on the 18th May, head here stat to check it out!
