April Mixtape 2011

The birthstone of April is Diamond and it comes as no coincidence that our fourth and filthiest i-D Online mixtape stands out from the rough, brandishing an array of rare and impressive beats.

Listen here!

Plucked straight from the plushest of musical pastures, we’ve harvested a crop of the tastiest tunes and served them straight up on a silver platter, for your delectation. This month we take you on a whistle stop tour of the sickest single releases. Heavyweight hip hop trio The Beastie Boys reclaim their rightful place at the top, smack bang next to the slickest female MC on the scene Lady Leshurr. Head honcho at Ed Banger records Busy P puts his foot down with the fast-paced four-minute HEY TODAY! edit of heat infused track ‘Procrastinator’. Little Tom S.C.U.M. returns with his band’s latest dread infused offering, entitled ‘Summon The Sound’ whilst Stolkholm pop quintet Oh My! launch themselves onto our soundscapes with their upbeat melodies and cute lyrical choruses. And that’s all just for starters, we hope you’re hungry!

This month’s mixtape illustration comes at you from the incredible artistic fingertips of Norfolk born, Hackney based, Central Saint Martins graduate Frank Laws. Describing himself as “obsessive, unsatisfied and hardworking”, Frank believes his work is a direct representation of his own approach to life. We think it’s accomplished, intelligent and highly original. Just like Frank.
