Funeral Party are four no-good east Los Angeles lads, waging war on the world and bringing rock’n'roll back with their irrepressible energy.
Brash, infectious, effortless and loud, James, Chad, Kimo and Tim are the all American dance-punk band who don’t want to grow up. Reluctant to enter the laborious daily 9-5 grind, these four friends got together and began playing dive bars at D.i.Y nights all over their hometown of Whittier, California. Down and out with no loose cash to spare, the band bummed equipment and instruments off friends and fellow artists in order to perform and get their music heard. Their debut album Golden Age Of Knowledge is cited among the most forward thinking albums of the year, mixing things up within modern music.
Whether Funeral Party are bashing out skate-thrash single ‘Just Because’ or levering down the pace for acoustically accomplished track ‘Chalice’, the band’s dynamic sound is instantly appealing and intriguing.
i-D Online caught up the lads ahead of their recent UK tour for an exclusive live session and some decent chat.
