New York, 16/02/11. Proenza Schouler.

After finishing last season’s show the Proenza boys, Jack and Lazaro went on a “road trip way out west and got lost in the desert”. Along the way they picked up some beautiful Native American blankets which formed the starting point for a truly exhilarating show. Inspired by the geometric textiles they found, they designed their own patterns on computers, adding pixelation and distortion. In their hands, these densely patterned textiles were expertly crafted into slouchy pants and slim shift dresses that were dizzying in their complexity. Up close, the details really showed off their skill and artistry – opens seams held together with intermittent stitches, winked at us as the models walked, whilst the layered cut-out patterns were totally hallucinogenic.
