After the show Phillip Lim talked about being inspired by gangs, in particular Mexican and Japanese ones. This was visible seen throughout the collection, from the tattoo print derived from the Yakuza gang’s full body tattoos to his continual reworking of ‘sleeves’ in a variety of different fabrics and hardcore embellishments. Panelled peg trousers came with a single fold down the front creating a cool new silhouette, whilst coats had built in scarves, tied to create large bows at the neck. Even individual seams got the Phillip Lim treatment, sometimes raised and exaggerated or occasionally with a single zip running the length. Today, Lim’s posse had attitude and city swagger aplenty.
