Reduce. Reduce. Reduce. That seemed to be Rad Hourani’s mantra for his secondary label, Rad by Rad Hourani. “It is about six pieces that can be transformed to have multiple personalities”, Hourani said of the collection, which exuded a modern democratic spirit without boundaries, offering a subtly psychological power extending beyond the clothes and into Hourani’s cult followers’ very way of living. “I’m not so interested in one category, idea or type of person”, he explained. The result – a sculptural parade of structured black and grey jackets, shorts and scarves, often tied around the waist – alluded to a diverse language that fashion has slowly become fluent in. And what would Hourani’s world look like? “A modern, sleek, intelligent universe.” Without a moment to lose, it’s clear he’s quickly taking over this one.
