Jil Sander was one of spring/summer 11’s most directional – and beautiful- collections, and this season that legacy continues. Raf Simons once again played with volume and a bold, bright colour palette, whilst introducing sophisticated, wearable separates into the equation; cue leg-lengthening black jodhpurs secured beneath heavy boots, and luxurious black knitwear enhanced with graphic prints in turquoise, white and green. Hair was slicked up, eyelids painted blue and lips splashed with a jolt of bright red colour, to compliment a collection that was futuristic yet essential for modern living. Dresses were tubular, long and lean, T-shirts were shiny and padded, whilst the floral prints that leapt off trouser suits, billowing dresses and high-heeled boots were reminiscent of a wildly romantic scene out of a Van Gogh oil painting. Cashmere helmets, fastened beneath the chin, completed Raf’s vision and a collection fast on track to becoming one of autumn/winter 11’s stand out shows. Future dressing never looked so good.
