Milan, 24/02/11. Prada

Prada’s autumn/winter 11 invitations were hand-written on polystyrene and came in polystyrene envelopes. On arriving at the show venue at Prada’s headquarters on Via Fogazzaro, guests were shown to their polystyrene seats. It was a tactile start to what proved to be a deliciously touchy feely collection. Miuccia Prada once again proved her star status with a collection of 70s prints, glistening fish scale flapper dresses (painstakingly stitched together), pea-coats reinterpreted with cropped sleeves and giant lapels, Paddington Bear yellow and black check shifts, electric blue fox fur stoles, fuzzy helmets with leather chin straps and knee high snake-skin boots with silver heels and built in pink and yellow socks. Brilliantly bonkers, in a ‘I must-have this right now’ way, this clever, comical and extremely covetable collection once again shows Prada at its best. Our autumn/winter wish list starts now.
