London, 21/02/11. Paul Smith.

The girls borrowed from the boys at Paul Smith’s show this season with a return to his original masculine-feminine womenswear sensibility. It’s what he does best, and here he delivered a show with not only a Patti Smith soundtrack, but also a nod to her dishevelled nonchalance. With each model’s hair caught inside her collar and jackets buttoned up casually over low slung ‘boy’ jeans and slouchy pants, the girls were the epitome of laid back cool. Sir Paul Smith managed to keep the tailoring pleasingly masculine, whilst occasionally indulging in a more playful, dandy side, injecting pops of clashing colour and polka dot prints. Girls who like boys to be girls who like girls to be boys.
