London, 21/02/11. Christopher Kane.

Defining Christopher Kane as a designer is no mean feat. His body of work has encompassed everything from neon lace, frayed pale denim, maribou and naughty leather clad Irish dancers. This season he continues to delight, turning his attention to crotchet blankets and plastic strips of ‘toxic’ coloured gel that everyone wanted to squidge. Using the tactile wavy strips to frame necklines and outline pockets of sophisticated knee-length shifts, it was an off-beat and intriguing addition. Such components, in a lesser designer’s hands, could be a recipe for disaster. However, this is where Kane thrives, conjuring refinement from the most unexpected of places.
