This week ‘E8′ London’s hippest hottest postcode welcomes a very special new resident. ‘A Little of What You Fancy’ is Dalston’s new local restaurant brought to you by cracking culinary coupling Elaine Chalmers and Lola Coone.
Meeting in Shoreditch’s Electricity Showrooms in 1998, sparks flew from the outset between Lola and Elaine. Becoming best of friends, they exercised their passion for food in separate endeavours until last year when they put their heads together and came up with the idea for A Little of What You Fancy.
Both Elaine and Lola are locals to the eatery’s Kingsland Road location and joined by Ruth Bartlett front of house and Kate de Syllas in the kitchen, they are all conscious of it offering a much needed filler to the void of tasty treats in the area. Treats is something the venue will offer by the Le Creuset casserole load; with good, wholesome food in abundance, the ladies offer a haunch of hedonism and a glass full of gluttony in just the right portions. Those familiar with Elaine’s fabulous party food and her servings from the kitchen at Dalston Superstore will be salivating just at the thought and the restaurant’s manifesto of ’local, seasonal and fresh’ has the place ticking all the right boxes.
The doors are open now offering delectable delights aplenty morning, noon and night (see here for info on opening hours). Besides the great gastronomy they’ll be serving up on a daily basis Elaine and Lola will be offering extra special events to get the mouths watering; guest chefs, oyster nights, Greek nights and amazing cakes, organic wine and home made jams and chutneys from the deli counter. So as deafening rumbles emanate from your stomach, we strongly recommend you get yourself a lot of what you fancy at the quite fantastic A Little of What You Fancy.

P.S. Don’t miss the flourless chocolate cake – it brings a whole new meaning to ‘a slice of heaven’.
